Helping You Love Your Smile is Our Mission

Dental Veneers

At Canyon View Dentistry, we offer various treatments to restore the natural beauty of your smile. One fantastic option that we are especially adept in is dental veneers. For anyone with teeth that suffer from surface problems or where gaps have appeared between teeth, veneers are a one-stop restoration that lasts long and looks great.

What Are Dental Veneers?

For hundreds of years, we’ve used the term veneer to mean a thin layer of hardwood

that carpenters would adhere over the top of damaged or lower-quality wood. Then, when people viewed the final product, they would only see the more attractive material. A dental veneer uses the same term because it functions in much the same way.

Dental veneers are thin shells made from ceramic and custom-made for you expressly. They immediately create an ideal appearance for your teeth compared with other procedures.

For example, teeth whitening requires repeated treatments and shows progressive results along a white scale. But we create your dental veneer in the shade of white to blend with your brightest adjoining teeth so that you can enjoy a whiter new smile.

In some cases, dental veneers also augment more than just appearance. They also may provide some relief from tooth sensitivity because they seal the exposed surface and prevent hot and cold substances from directly contacting your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers Can Fix a Host of Problems

Dr. McCallum has a particular interest in dental veneers, and she understands how to use them best. What makes them such an outstanding choice is the array of problems they can correct, including:

  • Chips and cracks in teeth
  • Crooked tooth edges
  • Uneven gaps between teeth
  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Both intrinsic and extrinsic tooth stains

The Main Advantages of Dental Veneers

The first advantage: Choice. At Canyon View Dentistry, we can offer you a veneer to address specific issues. For example, with our CEREC system, we can fabricate porcelain veneers in our office to brighten your smile. But if you need a material more opaque than porcelain, we can create a composite veneer in our office made from the same material as our tooth-colored fillings.

The second advantage: Durability. If you faithfully care for your veneers and show caution where necessary, then they can last for years to come.

The third advantage: Seamlessness. Dr. McCallum will work with your tooth surface enamel to make a notch perfectly fit for your veneer. Then, she will bond the veneer to the tooth’s prepared face, adjust it where necessary. Lastly, she’ll polish it to make your veneer an almost perfect match.

5 STAR EXPERIENCE!

“5 STAR EXPERIENCE! I don’t know about you but I dread going to the dentist. I had two teeth that needed fixing but I have been dragging myself because I can’t deal with waiting for crown for at least a week. So today I went to my appointment to this new dentist and IT FELT LIKE I AM AT THE SPA! They had a blanket to cover my feet, a warm wet towel for my chest, back message from the chair, and netflix. The people are super nice and friendly – it start from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. I could stay there forever! They have super nice office you will really feel you are at the spa! I can’t wait be back to this SPA – yes it is a SPA to me for my next appointment for my crown. I did not have fear I usually get of seeing the dentist.” -Tisi

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dental veneers are composed of porcelain or other composite materials, formed into thin shells made to order for your unique teeth. When applied, veneers create an immediate effect.

In some cases, your veneer may also lessen tooth sensitivity by covering a part of your tooth’s surface that might already be thin enough for you to feel discomfort from hot and cold substances.

Veneers are also resilient because the composite material is solid while still looking natural. But like any other tooth, veneers require daily care so that they remain clean and bright.

Care Instructions for Dental Veneers

With proper care, your veneers have excellent longevity. Dr. Cara McCallum recommends the following steps to maintain your veneers:

  • Brush and floss twice a day
  • Don’t grind your teeth
  • Wear oral protection – especially for high-impact physical activities; we recommend a mouthguard.
  • Wear a mouthguard at night if you grind your teeth
  • Avoid biting directly into hard or sticky foods – we recommend not chewing ice, hard candy, and other sticky foods.
